Name of Drug

Dul­ca­ma­rae sti­pi­tes, woo­dy nightshade.

Composition of Drug

Woo­dy nights­ha­de con­sists of the dried, 2- to 3‑year-old stems of Sola­n­um dul­ca­ma­ra L. [Fam. Sol­a­naceae], har­ve­s­ted in spring pri­or to lea­fing or late autumn after lea­ves have drop­ped, as well as its pre­pa­ra­ti­ons in effec­ti­ve dosage.

The drug con­ta­ins tannins, ste­ro­id alka­lo­ids and ste­ro­id saponins.

Uses

As sup­port­i­ve the­ra­py for chro­nic eczema.

Dosage

Unless other­wi­se prescribed:

Inter­nal:
Dai­ly dosage:

  • 1 – 3 g of drug;
  • equi­va­lent preparations.

Exter­nal:

  • Infu­si­ons or decoc­tions equi­va­lent to 1 – 2 g of drug per 250 ml (1 cup) of water.

Mode of Administration

Com­mi­nu­ted herb for teas and other gale­ni­cal pre­pa­ra­ti­ons for inter­nal use, and for com­pres­ses and rinses.
