Composition of Drug

Fixed com­bi­na­ti­ons con­sis­ting of:

Dan­de­l­ion root with herb cor­re­spon­ding to the mono­graph published Novem­ber 1, 1984 (B. Anz. p. 13327);
Celan­di­ne herb cor­re­spon­ding to the mono­graph published May 6, 1985 (B. Anz. p. 4952);
Worm­wood herb cor­re­spon­ding to the mono­graph published Novem­ber 1, 1984 (B. Anz. p. 13327);

as well as their pre­pa­ra­ti­ons in effec­ti­ve dosage.

Uses

Dys­pep­tic com­plaints, par­ti­cu­lar­ly for func­tion­al dis­or­ders of the gall­blad­der drai­na­ge system.

Contraindications

Obs­truc­tion of the bile ducts, empy­e­ma of the gall­blad­der, ileus. In case of gall­s­to­nes, to be used only after con­sul­ta­ti­on with a physician.

Dosage

Unless other­wi­se prescribed:

Celan­di­ne must be pre­sent at the con­cen­tra­ti­on given in the mono­graph. Dan­de­l­ion root with herb and worm­wood must be at 50 – 75 per­cent of the dai­ly dosa­ge given in the mono­graphs for the indi­vi­du­al herb.

Devia­ting dosa­ges must be jus­ti­fied for the spe­ci­fic pre­pa­ra­ti­on (e.g., com­pa­ri­son of bit­ter values).

Mode of Administration

Liquid and solid pre­pa­ra­ti­ons for oral application.

Actions

Sti­mu­la­ti­on of gall secre­ti­on and appe­ti­te has been estab­lished for dan­de­l­ion root with herb and worm­wood herb. Celan­di­ne herb shows a papa­veri­ne-like, mild anti­s­pas­mo­dic action on the upper intesti­nal tract. Phar­ma­co­lo­gi­cal tests for the effec­ti­ve­ness of fixed com­bi­na­ti­ons are not available.
