Centaurii herba, centaury herb.
Centaury consists of the dried, above-ground parts of Centaurium minus Moench (syn. C. umbellatum Gilbert; Erythraea centaurium (L.) Persoon) [Fam. Gentianaceae], as well as their preparations in effective dosage.
The drug has a bitter value of minimum 2000.
Loss of appetite, peptic discomfort.

1 - 2 g. Mode of Administration Ground herb for teas and other bitter-tasting preparations for internal use.
Increase in gastric juice secretion.
