Name of Drug

Guajaci lignum, guaiac wood.

Composition of Drug

Guaiac wood consists of the heartwood and sapwood of Guaiacum officinale L. and/or G. sanctum L. [Fam. Zygophyll-aceae], as well as their preparations in effective dosage. The wood contains resin and saponins.

Uses

Supportive therapy for rheumatic complaints.

Average daily dosage:

4.5 g of drug; equivalent preparations. Mode of Administration Comminuted wood for decoctions and other galenical preparations for internal use.
